Department of Disinfection

The Department of disinfection supervises and manages the disinfection and sterilization control of healthcare units made by the regional institutions of the ANTSZ.

In case of extraordinary events (epidemics, infection hazard) organizes and gives technical guidance in support the disinfection procedure.

Participates in the review programme of biocidal active substances and products initiated by the EU, in the Directive 98/8/EC, coordinating the evaluation process of active substances in PT1, PT2 and PT3.

Prepares expert reports of disinfectants and cleaning supplies with disinfecting activity before authorisation.

Tests disinfector machines: running efficacy assays, writing expert reports.

Tests and evaluates the action of micro organisms on plastics used as indoor building materials (wainscot, panels) in healthcare units.

Controls and monitors the disinfectants on the market in Hungary

The department of disinfection produces bio indicators containing bacteria spores for the efficacy testing of sterilizers (steam, ethylene oxide, plasma), re-cultures them after treatment, and evaluates the test results.

Reports monthly the recently authorized or modified disinfectants in EPINFO.

Compiles and publishes periodically the Manual of disinfection about the disinfection protocols that has to be fulfilled in the course of infection prevention

Compiles and publishes periodically the Manual of sterilization about the sterilization protocols that has to be fulfilled in the course of infection prevention

Compiles and publishes periodically the official list of disinfectants licensed for usage in Hungarian healthcare units

Makes efficacy testing of disinfectants following EN standard methods listed below:
