Holdings

The holdings cover the various fields of public health (infectious diseases, microbiology, genetics, environmental health, school health, toxicology). In 1927 the Library had 4818 units, and due to the donations and developments in the following years it owns the largest national public health collection.

  • Zentralblatt für Bakteriologie Parasitenkunde und Infektionskrankheiten (Int J Hyg and Int J Med): 1.1987.-;
  • Ergebnisse der Mikrobiologie (Current Topic): 1. 1914.-

The availability of important reference journals has always received priority, e.g. Catalogue Index of the Medical Library of US Army (1880-1961), Index Medicus (1927-1999), and Magyar Orvosi Bibliográfia (Hungarian Medical Bibliography) (1957-).

Books constitute one third of the holdings in the following languages: English - more than 50 per cent, Hungarian - about 25 per cent, and the others in Russian, German or French.
